The Board of Management has legal responsibility for the overall running of the school. It serves for a term of four years and a new board was formed in November 2019.
There is a Before and After School service provided by Mandy Keogh. Children in Junior & Senior Infants may be dropped into Mandy from 7.30 a.m.

It is important to foster pride in the school and to make the children feel part of it. The uniform is worn in school at all times.

The top is available from Anthony Ryan, Shop Street, Galway and The Schoolwear Centre, Liosbán Industrial Estate, Galway.
The polo shirts and tracksuit bottoms are available from Anthony Ryan and The Schoolwear Centre, but they can also be purchased in Dunnes, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Lidl, Aldi, etc.
Please label all items.
Sixth Class pupils wear a hoodie, which is ordered from the Schoolwear Centre, red/white polo shirt, and they may wear black or navy tracksuit pants.
Scoil Mhuire, Brierhill moved to its current location in 1953. Prior to this, it was a two-teacher school located ½ kilometre to the west in Brierhill. When the school was built in 1953, it moved from the townland of Brierhill to Breánlocháin but it was decided to retain the Brierhill name. Some years later it became a three-teacher school, and an extra classroom was added to the existing structure. In 1975 a new wing was built adding another classroom and a general- purpose hall.
Because of development in the locality, the school has increased from being a four- teacher school to its present position as an 18-teacher school comprising 9 main stream teachers, an administrative principal, 2 ASD Class teachers and 6 special education teachers. In 2008 we opened our first Autistic Spectrum Disorder Class to cater for pupils with autism. In 2018 we opened a second ASD Class, and there are now 12 pupils in the classes. We also have 4 full time and 6 part time special needs classroom assistants.
